Quota or not – what is your say
So much drama is unfolding every day. Really things doesn’t matter for us (those who are preparing for CAT 07) But I am just wondering about one question – is it true – if quote is implemented the quality of students joining best schools in India will be compromised and that might diminish the image/ value of education in these institutes

Your above assumption/statement is not completely correct but its true to some extent. Few institutes might get affected by the quality of students joining it but surely not IIMs. To get a call from IIM with reservation you got to score more than 98 percentile and by no means I can consider any student to be inferior because he/she has scored 1 percentile less than some one else. CAT is so tough now that everything boils down to the final 2hr 30 minutes and one/two mistakes during that time might reduce the percentile from 99.5 to 98.3 Really I don’t discriminate between 98-99.8 you can say all are of equal standard. But institutes like IITs will definitely suffer. Currently there is quite a gap on the standard between the general category and reserve category students joining these institutes for MBA. To get a call from IIT kharagpur, A general student need to get a rank of around 1000 but a student with reservation can get a call with rank 3500. Post Quota implementation you can expect it to go beyond 6000 and then there will be huge difference between the qualities of students perusing MBA in those institutes.
